Love Island stars banned from speaking to the villa cleaners by show producers

Love Island alumni Jess and Eve Gale have revealed some of the rules that show producers put in place to keep the islanders in check.

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star reporter Carly Hacon during a Facebook Live interview, the sisters explained that the cast were set certain guidelines and were banned from doing things at different points in the day.

One such ban was talking to the cleaners, but the cheeky sisters said they often bent the rules slightly.

Jess recalled: “I remember, I once went to the toilet in the middle of the night. In our villa, you had to walk through the dressing room and into the toilet, there were loads of people and I was delirious because it was probably about 3am. Loads of cleaners there, moving all of our stuff.”

Eve then admitted: “I always used to say hello, you would always see the same six people plus the people you see everyday. You’d see the cleaners and be like: ‘Oh, hi’. The producers would always say: ‘You cannot talk to cleaners!’”

Former islander Millie Court, who won the 2021 show with Liam Reardon, also recently confirmed this information and said that the cast were forced to use a “stinky outside loo” instead.

It appears the producers prefer to keep a tight ship around the villa to ensure everyone is in the right place at the right time.

However, there are many factors that can disorientate islanders including having no phone or contact with the outside world and not knowing what the time is.

However, Jess admitted that she once broke the rules and asked a staff member what the time was.

She was taking tablets during her time on the show, which meant that she had to have a medic around.

Jess said she would “sneakily ask them what the time was”, which they told her because she assumed “they didn’t know” it was supposed to be kept from them.

She joked that once she had received the information, she “didn’t know what to do with it afterwards”.

The twins also revealed that there were specific times they were allowed to wash themselves and the strict rules even extend to meal times.

Eve revealed: “Lunch and dinner are the only times you aren’t on camera, so sometimes they separate boys and girls. So, because it’s not on camera, you’re not supposed to speak about anything to do with the show.”

The star said that they even went so far as to “break up” whispered conversations if they attempted to gossip over their food.
