Love Island presenter Laura Whitmore has decided to leave her role on BBC Radio 5 Live as she sets her sights on more work in the television industry.
The presenter, 37, took over the Love Island role in 2020 after Caroline Flack announced she would be stepping down from the job to “not detract attention from the upcoming series” after being arrested.
Prior to taking over the reins, Laura had a primetime slot on BBC Radio 5 Live after joining the network in 2018 and after four years, she’s preparing to branch out and make the most of her newfound fame.

Heidi Dawson, controller of BBC Radio 5 Live confirmed Laura’s departure in a statement which read: “Laura has made the difficult decision to leave after a brilliant four years.
“We’d like to thank her for the energy, insight and humour she has brought to this programme and look forward to working with her again in the near future.”
Meanwhile, a source told The Sun: “Love Island has given her huge exposure and a healthy pay packet, and she’s now going to exploit that to the max.
“Laura has already hinted she has other projects in the pipeline and she can’t find the time to continue with all her roles.
“So something had to go, and it’s sad for listeners that this is what’s been jettisoned as she moves onwards and upwards.”
It’s believed that the mum-of-one is paid an eyewatering £600,000 for her appearance on Love Island which has seen Laura featured on screens for less than 20 minutes since the show returned last month.
It’s estimated that Whitmore has been paid around £744 per second for presenting the show which has seen the Irish-born star appear in the villa on a handful of occasions.
While Flack presented the programme, she would often appear in the famous Majorca villa during the brutal dumpings but Laura has remained away from the set, with Islanders finding out via text message.
However, last night’s episode [July 19] saw the star make a shock arrival into the villa as she revealed that the fate of two Islanders laid in the hands of their co-stars, with the decision airing tonight [July 20].
The blonde bombshell paired the white sparkling gown with a pair of silver strappy heels as she strutted her stuff into the villa to break up the ITV party.
Laura straightened her luscious long locks which cascaded down to the middle of her back, which she teamed with a full face of glamorous makeup including a pinch of blush on the apples of her cheeks and lashings of mascara on her luscious long lashes.
As she stood in front of the contestants, she said: “Hello Islanders, how are you all doing? [Are you] having a good time? I am not here to join in on the fun sadly and I am afraid the party is over, could you all please line up by the pool.”
Love Island airs Sunday – Friday on ITV2 at 9pm
