Made In Chelsea's Sam Thompson and Zara McDermott 'at loggerheads' trying to design home

Sam Thompson described the renovation process with his girlfriend Zara McDermott as like “two rival football teams going head to head” after the pair moved into their new Chelsea home.

The happy couple have finally moved into their forever home after they transformed the Made In Chelsea star’s bachelor pad into a stunning love nest.

Their plush London pad is located in the heart of the capital right next door to his sister Louise Thompson and her partner Ryan Libbey and their newborn son Leo-Hunter Libbey.

And it’s fair to say their new pad looks incredible thanks to the impressive interior design skills from the former Love Island star.

With the edition of their two adorable kittens Albus and Cedric, the power couple have been taking the world by storm as they continue to take huge leaps into their TV and radio careers.

But it’s fair to say the year-long process wasn’t always smooth sailing as the 29-year-old reality star sat down with the Daily Star for an exclusive chat about the draining process.

The blonde hunk explained that despite how much he loves his new home, he wouldn’t do a full home renovation again due to the stress and time it took to complete.

During a chat in Subway: “It’s like a dream, I can’t tell you. It’s been a year, a year in the making and I’ve got to be honest with you – probably wouldn’t do it again.

“We were staying in so many different places, so it can be pretty tough but now we’re finally in.”

Despite his excitement he explained that there is still a lot of work to be done to the Chelsea home as the pair continue to develop their towering London pad.

Aside from the main living rooms in the house such as the kitchen, bathrooms, bedrooms and living rooms, the couple still have large crystal doors to be fitted, a fully decked out cinema and podcast room as well as another bedroom.

He went on to say: “You know, this was meant to be by the way just a kitchen extension but then the beauty of having a girlfriend is that it’s never quite that.

“It’s always the bare minimum is the nice kitchen extension, so now we’ve turned into a full house renovation which was never on the plans but here we are and I’ve got to say Zara’s incredibly happy.”

The reality star explained how their styles “clash every so slightly”

He went on to explain how their design choices “clashed” to the point where the couple employed an interior designer to help develop a compromise between their two styles.

Sam said: “I think our design choices do clash ever so slightly, we actually brought in a lovely lady who is very good at designing and she was like the middleman between me and Zara.

“It was almost like two rival football clubs coming head-to-head and it has to be defeated if you know what I mean.

“So, Zara would go for the crushed velvet and that would get immediately stamped out by me and I would go in with something that would immediately get stamped out by her so vetoes all round.

“I said absolutely 1000% zero crushed velvet in my gaff,” he insisted.

The Subway will be open for dining at West India Quay, London on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th March 2022.

Tickets for a table for 2 people, for 1 hour, are free but visitors will need to book online.
