Masked Singer viewers baffled as Rob Beckett 'unveils himself' as Traffic Cone

Comedian Rob Beckett appears to have accidentally revealed that he is The Masked Singer’s Traffic Cone after he shared a tweet to fans that should have been sent to his social media team.

The Celebs Go Dating narrator tweeted while the ITV show was halfway through airing on Saturday night but left his followers rather shocked with his untimely openness.

The tweet that Rob wrote on the social media site read: “Just send this out once I’ve been unmasked.

“Thanks for all the support being the Traffic Cone I absolutely loved it. Great show. The kids couldn’t believe it was me,” he added.

Although some Masked Singer viewers took his message as a mistake at face value, others weren’t convinced and knew Rob’s social media mishap was a joke.

Taking to Twitter, viewers also shared their thoughts on Rob’s incriminating post.

One fan penned: “As if he’d make that rookie mistake! Stop lying to us Rob.”

Another chimed: “I cannot believe how many people have fallen for this.”

A third said: “Rob Beckett sure knows how to throw people off. We all know he’s not Traffic Cone.”

Meanwhile a fourth joked: “Worst prank ever! Nice try Rob.”

Despite several non-believers, some viewers were adamant that Rob is in fact Traffic Cone and the tweet that he sent was very real.

Over the weekend, Traffic Cone impressed the celebrity panellist with their incredible singing capability and was not among the characters at risk of getting unmasked.

However, Bagpipes wasn’t so lucky and was unveiled as Australian tennis champion Pat Cash.

Bagpipes went up against Poodle in the dreaded sing-off after presenter Joel Dommett announced that Traffic Cone, Panda and Rockhopper had all made it through to next week’s show.

Both characters proceeded to sing an additional song to hopefully save their place in the competition, with Bagpipes opting for a Dusty Springfield number, meanwhile Poodle sang a rendition of Clean Bandit’s track Symphony.

Despite his best efforts, the celeb panel decided to save Poodle, leaving Bagpipes with no other option but to unmask himself.

When asked why he decided to take part in the show, Pat confessed: “I’ve always been a frustrated rock star and fancied doing the Masked Singer from the first day I saw it.

“I just thought it would be so much fun to rock out, although I prefer to hide behind a guitar instead of a sweaty mask. It was a great experience overall.

“As luck would have it, my schedule cleared. I’m a big believer in letting your higher power take over and I suppose it meant I was able to take part in the show.”
