Matt Hancock will 'crack and throw tantrums' if I’m A Celeb stars dig at MP

Matt Hancock signing up for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! caused quite the stir for the British public – but none more than his local constituents.

Hancock is the current MP for West Suffolk, looking after multiple areas which fall under his constituency, but as the country faces a cost of living crisis he has headed off to try out the ITV show.

Newmarket councillor and former deputy mayor Christopher O’Neil has told Daily Star that locals are “livid” with the MP’s decision – and spilled on how he thinks Matt will get on in the jungle.

Speaking to Daily Star, Cllr O’Neil stated that leaving during the midst of the cost of living crisis has left locals utterly fuming with the MP.

He explained that there are local issues which have been raised but not yet wrapped up, adding that there is a rise in “uncertainty” for the locals of Newmarket.

However, while Cllr O’Neil is unimpressed with Mr Hancock’s decision to give the gruesome challenges on the famous ITV show a go, he believes some things could come out of the woodwork.

Mr O’Neil said he hopes the fellow celebrities ask him some “uncomfortable questions”, adding that it’s likely he will “squirm” if he’s quizzed on anything.

He continued: “I think he’s likely to crack when he’s in there. If you watch some of the clips from when he was health minister, you can see he was out of his depth and didn’t really know what to say.

“He repeated the rhetoric that wasn’t written down for him and didn’t really understand the issues, so I think you’ll probably see him not being able to answer questions straight.”

Mr O’Neil added: “He’ll likely try to avoid issues and probably throw some tantrums.”

Cllr O’Neil’s comments come shortly after Matt Hancock landed in Australia as he prepares to go into the jungle as one of the wildcard contestants.

Matt Hancock isn’t the first politician to enter the jungle – but he has certainly gathered a lot of public attention in recent years with scandalous behaviour taking place while he was in office.

The MP was soon forced to resign after his scandalous affair came to light and he has now jetted off to Australia just one week after being snubbed from Rishi Sunak’s government.

Hancock is set to join numerous other celebrities which include the lives of Boy George, Chris Moyles and Olivia Attwood.
