The late rock legend Meat Loaf said he felt a ghost ‘touch him’ during an investigation with the Ghost Hunters team in his final TV appearance.
The Bat Out Of Hell and I Would Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) singer died on January 20 2022 at the age of 74.
It has now been reported that his final TV appearance on the paranormal investigation series Ghost Hunters will air on February 12 2022 on the streaming service Discovery+.
During the episode, Meat Loaf visits The Haunted House on the Hill in Jonesborough, Tennessee with The Atlantic Paranormal Society (TAPS) for an investigation, during which he felt a ghost ‘touch him’ and ‘communicated’ with another spirit.
At the beginning of the episode, Meat Loaf and the Ghost Adventures team spoke to the owners of the 19th-century property, who explained that the building had a history of being haunted.
They added that their children had often heard strange noises in the house, including a woman screaming, and had seen the apparition of a little boy.
While investigating the property during the episode, the singer can also be seen having paranormal experiences of his own.
During one scene, Meat Loaf told investigator Shari Debenedetti: “Somebody’s touching me. Somebody’s touching my shoulder,” as he was sitting in a chair in one of the rooms.
Shari tried to communicate with the ghost, who is believed to be a woman called Lydia, saying: “Did you just touch my friend’s shoulder? We’re not here to harm you, we’re not here to tell you to leave.”
The singer added: “We’re here to give you love,” and as he said this, the device he was holding to monitor the spirit’s presence lit up.
In another scene, Meat Loaf can be seen asking the team if they spotted a shadow figure walking by a door in the house.
He asks: “Did somebody just come in that door? Somebody there?”, to which Jason Hawes, the founder of TAPS, replies: “A second ago, I could see the light on the fridge, it blocked out.”
The singer then adds: “No, I saw it. Keep on coming. Don’t be afraid.”
Meat Loaf’s appearance in the episode is known to be the singer’s final TV appearance before his death earlier this year, but it is not the only time he has joined the TAPS team on one of their adventures.
The singer also joined up with them back in 2009 for an episode named after his biggest hit Bat Out of Hell, which saw them head to a haunted private island in Thousand Islands, New York.
The singer also joined the team for a further Ghost Hunters episode one year later in 2010, before his final appearance with the team during their new series.
The star explained to Shortlist in 2012 that he regularly spoke to paranormal entities, admitting: “I believe there’s something when you die because there are ghosts. I’ve seen them, I’ve been around them. Some are just energy left behind, and some are intelligent.
“I’ve had conversations with them using a K2 meter, which lets them answer ‘yes’ or ‘no’.”
