While the SAG Awards recognises Hollywood royalty over the past 12 months, several stars have shown their support for Ukraine amid the ongoing war with Russia.
And one of the veteran actors leading the support for the European country was Michael Douglas as he proudly donned the country’s colours on the red carpet.
The 77-year-old attended the high-profile event to take home a well-deserved award for his impressive performance in The Kominsky Method.
He was nominated for both the Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series and the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
As he posed up a storm on the star-studded red carpet, the dad-of-three donned a black suit with a purple tie which he completed with a pocket square that sported the colours of the Ukraine flag.
When asked about his show of support, he told Access presenter: “This is not for the LA Rams. This is the colour of the Ukrainian flag.
“If ever there was a time for us to appreciate about what true democracy us. I’m just so proud of what the people in this country have done.
He also took to Instagram to share his powerful ensemble to show his support overseas with his millions of fans who flooded to praise the actor online with many commenting a string of emojis in the colours of the Ukranian flag.
One user simply wrote: “Respect” while another agreed: “Thank you for supporting Ukraine.”
But Michael wasn’t alone in showing his support for the European country at the impressive Hollywood awards.
The Morning Show’s Greta Lee proudly strutted her stuff along the red carpet as she rocked a striking blue and yellow Marc Jacobs dress in tribute to the colours of the country’s flag.
A number of other celebrities were seen wearing yellow and blue ribbons on their lapels as they entered the event including Tyler Perry, Douglas Hodge and Shari Belafonte.
Pop star Lady Gaga – who dazzled in a white and gold ensemble – also addressed the political warfare as she told host Laverne Cox: “There’s so much going on in the world and my heart really goes out to Ukraine.”
And she wasn’t alone as many stars addressed the horrors going on overseas while the ceremony got underway, as the night’s host Leslie Odom Jr also briefly touched on the horrific situations when he opened the show.
He said: “While tonight is a celebration, we are all at the same time holding a place in our hearts for the people of Ukraine and sending out thoughts, prayers and hopes for impending peace.”
His moving words was met with a thunder of applause from the high-profile audience on the celebratory night.
