Molly-Mae Hague's first PrettyLittleThing catwalk show 'mobbed by protestors'

Molly-Mae Hague’s first PrettyLittleThing catwalk show was mobbed by protestors.

The Love Island beauty was hired as the fashion brand’s creative director last year and was at the Londoner Hotel on Wednesday night for the first runway event since she’s had the role.

But according to the Mirror, the glam event was hit by a protest.

The publication said around 20 people were at the hotel, with some holding signs about fair wages.

Former Love Islander Brett Staniland is understood to have been among the group.

An account on Twitter for him and twin Scott Staniland appeared to confirm the former’s attendance at the protest.

It comes amid concerns over the sustainability of “fast-fashion” and calls for “fair wages” for factory workers of the brand, which is owned by the Boohoo Group.

Protesters outside the event were seen holding up signs against the retailer.

A spokesperson for PrettyLittleThing previously said: “Any suggestion that the people making clothes for PLT or any other boohoo group PLC brand are paid lower than the minimum wage is grossly inaccurate.”

Molly-Mae found fame as one of the singles on the fifth series of Love Island in 2019, and came away from the show with both boyfriend Tommy Fury and a huge career.

The influencer bagged her PLT job last August and said at the time that she was thrilled.

“I’m beyond ecstatic to announce that I am the new CREATIVE DIRECTOR of @prettylittlething for UK/EU,” she wrote on Instagram.

“This is the biggest move in my career so far and I can’t explain my gratitude to my favourite brand in the world for trusting me with this role.

“PLT have had faith in me from the VERY start and to now be a director within the business feels like a complete dream come true.”

A representative for Molly-Mae have been contacted for comment.
