Naga Munchetty was in for a royal shock when her Platinum Jubilee interview was gatecrashed by a sniffer dog – and the pup blunder was caught on live TV.
Naga has been providing BBC Breakfast’s Jubilee coverage live from London this week as the country marks the Queen’s whopping 70 years on the throne.
On Thursday she covered the historic Trooping the Colour parade from Buckingham Palace – which saw her interview a range of royal experts and members of the general public on the Mall.
She returned to screens on Friday (June 3) from outside St Paul’s Cathedral ahead of the Queen’s thanksgiving service – which the monarch has withdrawn from due to mobility issues.

Naga was delighted to be able to the Dean of St Paul’s Cathedral – Very Reverend Doctor David Ison – who was a man very much at the centre of the Queen’s ceremony.
However, it wasn’t long before things took a hilarious turn and Naga’s chat with the reverend was interrupted by a friendly sniffer dog who was trotting around the steps of the cathedral.
Naga had just asked the dean about his role in the royal thanksgiving ceremony when she spotted the cathedral canine – who was only caught on camera for a split-second.
Naga pointed at the pup and said: “Oh, look! I will just say, behind us, just here…” before saying “Hello!” to the dog who was sadly not picked up by the cameras.

Naga started giggling as she added: “We’ve got the sniffer dogs doing their work as well!”
The dean clearly saw the funny side of the blunder as he also grinned at the dog’s surprise cameo.
Luckily, Naga was swiftly able to move on with the rest of the interview so it wasn’t affected for long.
The dean said his role in the service is to welcome everybody into the cathedral before delivering a bidding – which means setting out what the ceremony will involve.

He said his main objective is to “make sure everybody does their job.”
Prince Harry and Meghan will attend the St Paul’s service alongside the likes of Prince Charles and Camilla, and Prince William and Kate Middleton.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were not present on the balcony at the Trooping the Colour parade on Thursday, but they took on a more “official” role for the thanksgiving service.
Naga spoke to the BBC’s royal correspondent Daniela Relph – who told her Harry and Meghan will be “front and centre” of the event on Friday.
