Olly Murs has admitted his sex life has had to be put “on hold” as a consequence of his knee surgery.
The StarStruck host was forced to cancel his UK tour last week when he was rushed to hospital for an emergency operation.
Now Olly, 37, has confessed that his love life with girlfriend Amelia Tank, 29, has had to take a backseat while she helps nurse him through his recovery period.
Speaking in a new interview Olly joked how he had “catfished” bodybuilder Amelia due to his “dodgy knees” and that she would now be acting as his “nurse for 24 weeks.”
He told The Sun: “The reality is that I absolutely catfished her, she thought she was getting with a young pop star and now she’s looking after me.
“But really she is my comfort blanket, my positivity, my light, my everything. She makes me happy every day. She helps me see the light in everything.”
Olly is now planning a very special 30th birthday for Amelia – despite the fact he will have to spend it “on crutches.”
He then went on to discuss his surgery admitting it has been a struggle since the fall on stage that caused his original injury when a shard of bone lodged itself into the back of his knee.
He explained: “It has been a difficult couple of years with my leg. But I’ve been very lucky, because I’ve had 12 amazing years in my career. But I want another 12 amazing years. I want to be able to do more shows, more tours, more TV, I want to be a parent.”
Olly announced the disappointing outcome for his fans via Instagram last week when he axed all his summer tour dates.
He posted: “I am gutted to have to write this message but unfortunately I’ve had to undergo major new knee surgery again this week. Been trying my best to avoid having it done but the op was needed and it went well.
“I’m recovering in hospital but it means I’m having to cancel all my summer shows this year whilst I focus on my rehab.”
He continued: “Refunds will all be available from your point of purchase and please keep an eye out for any emails from your ticketing agent over the next few days.
“I’m so bloody sorry but my focus now is on recovering and I’ll keep you all updated on how I’m getting on! Stay cheeky catch you soon.”
Olly previously underwent surgery in 2019 when he has his anterior cruciate ligament reconstructed.
