Peter Kay has delighted his loyal legion of fans after performing a “secretive” and “unpolished” comedy gig.
Performing a “secret” gig for a select audience, the 49-year-old national treasure appeared on-stage in Salford with new material after stepping back from the limelight in 2017.
One fan took to Twitter to gush about the experience of attending a “secret” Peter Kay gig.

“Omg just been to a secret gig with Peter Kay at The Lowry,” the lady penned.
“Best night of my life ever, that guy is a legend. Phones in locked pounces, secret ticket collection, the lot. Still buzzing.”
Fans of Peter were quick to quiz the attendee, asking for more details – but she didn’t reveal much at all.
“It was the weirdest but best experience ever. He is just such a grounded fella. The gig was really raw and unpolished which was what made it so personal,” she went on.
The last time Peter was on stage was in August when he appeared at his Dance For Life show in aid of Cancer Research UK.
Donning an elaborate gold tracksuit adorned in a pattern that saw illustrations of discs cover the bomber jacket, the star looked joyful as he took to the stage.
The much-loved comedian took a step back from fame in five years ago when he cancelled a 14-month tour because of an “unforeseen family circumstance”.
Before his August gig stint, he was last seen on stage in May at the Ivor Novello Awards.
Earlier this year The Sun reported that the comedian was gearing up to announce his 2023 comeback tour this year.
A source told the paper: “He [Peter] has lined up huge venues across the country including in Manchester, London and Birmingham and is hoping to announce it in September.”
“Peter has not performed a live stand-up set on a big stage in well over a decade now but he could not be more ready to get back out there.”
