Rebekah Vardy has claimed she wasn’t serious about wanting to get paid for a story about Danny Drinkwater’s drink drive crash.
The WAG told London’s High Court today (May 11) that selling the story was a “fleeting thought” amid the ongoing libel trial against Coleen Rooney.
Rooney has accused Vardy of leaking “false stories” about her personal life to the media, after a months-long “sting operation” to discover the supposed culprit.
Vardy is seeking legal action against the claims.
In court, Vardy was asked by Rooney’s barrister David Sherborne about text messages sent to her agent Caroline Watt about Danny Drinkwater’s arrest in 2019.

She messaged: “Story….. Danny Drinkwater arrested.”
Watt messaged back: “For what?”
Vardy’s response read: “Crashed his car drunk with 2 girls in it. Both in hospital with 2 broken ribs. He has been only just let out of the cells. I want paying for this.”
Sherborne quizzed her on whether she wanted paying for the leak.
She replied: “It was a fleeting thought and I did not consider it any more after I wrote it.

“It was a fleeting, a fleeting comment, and something I probably considered at the time. And that was it.”
She said she wanted the information to be in the public domain as she is “deeply affected” by drink driving.
Vardyy added: “It was something terrible. I’m deeply affected by drink driving. My ex-husband killed two people during our marriage. I didn’t care if the information came out.”
But Watt had later messaged Vardy to inform her the story had already been leaked, with Vardy replying: “F***”.
She added at the time: “I’m fuming I didn’t give it to you earlier.”
Watt replied: “Me too. That would have been a fortune.”

Vardy insisted it was “Caroline’s sense of humour”, explaining: “I realise how badly they read and I apologise for how badly they read. But these are private conversations between friends who knew each other’s sense of humour.”
She said the message about cash was a “joke”.
The message trail showed Watt asking Vardy if she knew where Drinkwater lived so she could tip off the paparazzi, and Vardy responded with the area.
Vardy then messaged Watt to say: “I’ve messaged him on Insta.”
Sherborne went on to suggest she wanted the address to tip off photographers so newspapers would get exclusive pictures, with Vardy responding: “No, that’s not true.
“If I did message him, which I can’t remember if I did, I would probably have told him he’s a f****** idiot.”
She admitted Drinkwater was one of her Instagram friends.
