Russell Brand plans to turn a village pub into a vegan eatery and locals are not impressed.
With plans to transform the only pub in the village into a vegan restaurant, he has sparked uproar among locals, with one even questioning why he bought the establishment if he “doesn’t drink”.
The 47-year-old controversial comedian and his wife Laura Gallacher bought the pub last year and have now unveiled their plans for the Grade II-listed building.

Purchasing The Crown Inn together in December 2021 for a reported £850,000, the pair have plans that have outraged local villagers because it is the only pub in the village of Pishill in Oxon.
Russell and his wife reside in Henley-on-Thames and intends on turning the pub into a vegan restaurant.
The comedian, who has been vegan since 2019, was a vegetarian for many years prior to going entirely plant-based.
Locals aren’t onboard though, and have fumed over the plans to The Sun.
Speaking to the publication a local said: “We’ve heard he’s planning to turn the pub into a vegan restaurant. Why would anybody want that?
“He clearly never had any intention of using the pub as a pub. He doesn’t even drink alcohol. Why buy a pub if you don’t like drink?”
As well as transforming the establishment into a vegan eatery, he also wants to transform the garage into a recording studio for him to film YouTube videos from.
An application to convert the garage has been submitted to the South Oxfordshire District Council, according to The Sun.
The planning documents state: “The entire property has recently undergone a change of ownership and the public house is temporarily closed whilst plans to refurbish the building and formulate the nature of the new establishment are put in place.”
Russell may have had a turbulent love life and dating history, but the vegan star has now mellowed out and settled down with wife Laura.
He dated his now-wife on and off since 2007, with the pair getting hitched in 2017 following on from the birth of their daughter a year earlier.
The pair then welcomed a second daughter together in 2018 and named her Peggy.
