Ruth Langsford reacts as husband Eamonn Holmes posts snap of 'horrific' medical woes

Eamonn Holmes has shared his health issues with his 756,000 Instagram followers after he took part in some alternative therapy techniques.

The 62-year-old has suffered with back pain since 2021 and has been seeking medical advice ever since.

His pain was brought on after he dislocated his pelvis, resulting in three painful slipped discs.

The GB News presenter turned to social media to share his unusual method of pain relief with his followers and showed off his back after cupping therapy.

The picture showed his back covered in wooden cylinders as his back appeared red raw, yet he managed to make light of the situation in the caption.

He wrote: “My osteo James has just gone home. How am I supposed to get into bed now?”

His wife Ruth got involved as she commented on the post: “My ninja turtle!”

Carol Vorderman replied: “”That actually looks HORRIFIC.”

Cupping therapy is classed as an alternative form of medicine and originated in China.

The technique uses the heated cylinders to create a local suction on large areas of skin, usually on the patient’s back.

It reportedly helps with inflammation and to decrease overall pain, as well as increase blood flow, reduce stress and the appearance of cellulite.

The cups are usually made from natural materials including bamboo, glass or silicone and can be applied wet or dry depending on the ailment.

The process results in large red marks left all over the affected area, caused by the suction from the large cylindrical appliances, which can take up to a few weeks to disappear.

The former This Morning host, who is married to fellow ITV star Ruth Langsford, has spoken openly about his back pain which often leaves him relying on a walking stick to help him get around.

Back in April, Eamonn wrote in Best Magazine and revealed that swearing helps relieve his stress and cope with the pain.

He said: “Swearing has got a bad reputation which I personally think it doesn’t deserve. I have to be honest, I like a swear or two, or three, it makes me feel better. How can anyone deal with pain without swearing?”

The 62-year-old continued: “I have had a lot of pain over the past five or six years, so my swear box runneth over. I’m not saying it’s better than a couple of pain killing tablets, but it certainly has an initial short, sharp effect.”
