Sabrina the Teenage Witch hunk almost unrecognisable as he flogs Cameo videos for £80

Back in the 1990s, Nate Richert was an all-American teen heartthrob thanks to his starring role in Sabrina The Teenage Witch.

But today (September 27), on the 26th anniversary of the show’s first episode being aired, he’s more focused on his music career than acting – and it’s fair to say he looks a bit different too.

In Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Nate played Harvey Kinkle, the boyfriend and soul mate of witch Sabrina Spellman, who was played by Melissa Joan Hart.

With his boyish good looks and flowing locks, he had legions of adoring female fans.

He stayed in the show until it ended in 2003. After that, he appeared in a couple of independent movies and directed short films, but largely stepped away from acting, choosing instead to focus on his music career.

Years later, he bravely opened up to fans, revealing mental health issues contributed to him moving away from screen work.

He shared with his followers on Twitter: “Anxiety and subsequent depression were my major game stoppers.

“Took a decade to learn how to cope and overcome. Back then, all I knew was something was wrong with me, that I was broken and unworthy; all that fantastic BS anxiety likes to ruin your life with. But it didn’t :)”

Now, 44, Nate is clearly still mightily proud of his time on the show and often shares throwback pictures with cast members on his Instagram page.

Reflecting on his time on the show, he recently told Revamp Magazine: “It was absolutely my dream job.”

He added: “Good times. I was a kid in a candy store. Those were my people. I was so very lucky to be included in that amazing spectacle. I’ve always been predominantly a comedic actor and everything about that show was funny and fun exactly what I grew up dreaming about doing.”

These days his main on-screen appearances come in the form of personalised Cameo video messages, which can be bought for £82. Since joining, the app has amassed a few hundred followers and has a five-star rating.

His bio reads: “Sabrina The Teenage Witch’s Harvey Kinkle. Actor and Songwriter.”

One thing that jumps out is his change in appearance. Most notably, Nate’s hair is all but gone and he now opts to shave what he has left on top – or cover it with a hat.

He does, though, sometimes sport fuzz on his face, experimenting with different beard styles.

Nate, who married his wife Malorie in 2019, returned to acting with an appearance in the TV show Home Work in 2020, but music and songwriting remain a passion and key focus.

He told Revamp: “I love songwriting. It’s something that I started while on the show because, for portions of the day, when they don’t need you, you end up sitting in your trailer. They call it ‘hurry up and wait.’

“What started out as a hobby eventually became playing a lot of Hollywood shows and even touring a bit.”
