Die-hard Sex and The City fans have loved the first season of the new spin-off show And Just Like That and have been begging for another series.
However Sarah Jessica Parker, who plays Carrie Bradshaw in the hit show, has revealed she does not want Kim Cattrall to come back to play her role as Samantha Jones if there is a second season.
Speaking to Variety, the lead actress, 56, was asked if she would be “ok” if some “miracle were to happen” to allow Kim to return in her role.
Sarah firmly shut the door on Kim’s return, she said: “I don’t think I would, because I think there’s just too much public history of feelings on her part that she’s shared.”
The pair had a very public feud in 2018 after Kim attacked Sarah on Twitter calling her “cruel”.
She continued: “I haven’t participated in or read articles, although people are inclined to let me know.
“We didn’t go to Kim for this, you know. After we didn’t do the movie and the studio couldn’t meet what she wanted to do, we have to hear her and listen to her and what was important to her.
“It didn’t fit into what was important or needed for us. There’s a very distinct line between Samantha and Kim.”
Discussing how the show has addressed Samantha, she said the character is now gone, noting that she wasn’t villainised and that producers found a way to address the departure which was “necessary and important for people that loved her”.
The dispute is said to be over money and how the lead actress was paid more than the other stars.
Kim has previously denied reports she turned down a third instalment of the movie franchise because of money demands.
The actress slammed Sarah after she offered her co-star condolences when her brother died, she said: “You are not my friend.”
Writer and producer of the HBO series Michael Patrick King agreed with Sarah.
Speaking to Variety recently, he said: “No. Just like there was no thought that Kim would ever participate in And Just Like That, because she’s said what she had said.”
