Loyal fans of Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway were left heartbroken after it was revealed that it was the show would soon be taken off-air.
The popular weekend programme, which sees audience members win an array of prizes, has kept several viewers hooked over the last few weeks.
But although fans have enjoyed the show since it came back on screens in February, many were clearly upset to see it come to an end – at least for the series.
It will be back, however, after a series break.
Taking to Twitter, fans shared their thoughts online.
One person wrote: “Hats off to @antanddec. Putting much-needed smiles on faces during these sh***y times with the always wildly entertaining @itvtakeaway. Thanks boyz. Shame it’s the season finale, Saturday nights are gonna be too quiet without them.”
Another upset viewer said: “I’m gutted that it’s time for the last @itvtakeaway of the series. I’ve actually got no idea what I’ll do with my Saturday evenings after tonight – except watching @StephenMulhern on In For A Penny!”
A third penned: “Oh no! It’s the last #SaturdayNightTakeaway of the series.”
While a fourth added: “Gutted it’s the last show this week. What am I gonna do Saturday night now? Gonna have to actually go out and see people.”
During Saturday’s show, comedian Lee Mack took on the role of programme announcer.
Elsewhere presenter Stephen Mulhern hosted Ant Versus Dec, where the famous Geordie duo competed against each other racing with power tools.
Dancing on Ice star Oti Mabuse also participated in I’m a Celebrity Get Out of Me Ear.
There was also a final creepy instalment of Ant and Dec’s drama Polter Guys while an audience member was up for the chance to win adverts.
This year’s series included plenty of famous guests such as RuPaul, Paloma Faith and Alan Partridge who participated as guest announcers.
Singers Michael Buble, George Ezra and Sam Fender performed for viewers at home and in the studio for the popular segment End of the Show Show.
It is not yet known when Act and Dec will return for a new series.
