Strictly Come Dancing fans were left confused as newly eliminated contestant Matt Goss swerved an appearance on spin-off show It Takes Two.
His professional partner Nadiya Bychkova appeared on the couch to talk to presenter Rylan Clark on Monday night (October 17) after they were eliminated during Sunday’s results show.
But Matt was nowhere to be seen – until he appeared via video link due to a prior commitment.
Despite Rylan announcing the pair would be appearing on the show together, Nadiya was alone in the studio, as the host explained: “Now, unfortunately Matt sadly can’t be with us tonight because he’s recording with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra.
“But we do have the gorgeous Nadiya on the sofa. And by the power of technology, we should be able to link up with Mr. Goss now!”
Rylan was left devastated that he couldn’t give the popstar a big hug, with Matt explaining: “I’m currently recording with the Royal Philharmonic…”
“I know, you’re doing all right, man!” Rylan giggled, as he added: “Listen, we’re glad you’ve come back to us because it’s been a pleasure having you on the show, it really has.
“My biggest regret is I don’t get a cuddle tonight!”
But fans were left slightly confused by the segment on Twitter, as they turned to the social media platform to share their thoughts.
One viewer penned: “Matt, imprisoned in the digital realm for the crime of rampant and unashamed illegal hat-wearing!”
Another wondered: “Is Matt under a desk too? Oh he has shown up!” in a cheeky dig after today’s Prime Minister’s Questions – which saw MPs accuse Liz Truss of hiding under a desk.
Someone else was rather confused by the format of the show, as a highlights reel had been shown to viewers at home before the interview concluded.
They wrote: “Why are they doing Matt’s Strictly journey before his interview?!”
It comes after Matt confessed Strictly was “out of his comfort zone”, writing on Twitter: “Just taking the day to decompress.
“I came on social media not knowing what to expect and I am completely humbled, and to be honest with you, very emotional at the outpouring and kindness that I have received. We are all complex, thank you for recognising my heart.
“@bbcstrictly was out of my comfort zone but I did gain so much from the experience.”
He added: “This moment alone…reading your comments has given me a deep sense of comfort.
“It was an incredibly big decision to come back to the UK. Thank you making me feel like I’m home.”
