Strictly pro Janette Manrara 'happy to have husband back' after they both quit show

Former Strictly Come Dancing professional Janette Manrara has expressed her delight at getting her ‘husband back’ since the pair both left their roles on the hit BBC show after eight years.

Janette, who still co-hosts spin-off It Takes Two has been touring with spouse Aljaz Skorjanec, says being back together on stage as a pair is like ‘going back to square on’ in their relationship.

The 39-year old told the Mirror: “When he was doing Strictly, I would barely see him because we were on different schedules.

“It takes over your life so now I spend a lot more time with him, which is really nice.”

The loved-up couple watched on as Strictly reached Blackpool week last month with Janette taking pride in seeing her younger former colleagues take to the ballroom floor.

“We both had tears in our eyes because it was so good to be back in Blackpool and watch the dancers,” she said,

“I watch them all and think ‘The kids… they’re doing so well’.”

Aljaz, meanwhile, has recently opened up about his decade-long struggle with the skin condition, psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a skin condition that irritates the skin and causes red and flaky patches of skin covered with silvery scales.

The 32-year-old first developed the condition as a teenager following the stress he felt when he quit competitive dancing at 18 and noticed odd patches on his knees which spread to his elbows.

A dermatologist diagnosed him with the condition and prescribed steroid creams, and things improved for a while but got worse when he left home to work on a theatre show in Australia.

“I was 20 and it was really difficult because I didn’t really fully understand why all of a sudden my skin was changing so drastically,” he said. “It’s not really the most aesthetically pleasing thing to have.

“I was getting frustrated because, for the world that I work in, appearances mean so much and it had gone everywhere – even my face. But getting stressed only made it worse.”
