Arlene Phillips has revealed her young granddaughter was hospitalised last week as she told fans “my world was turned upside down.”
The former Strictly Come Dancing judge, 79, shared a sweet photo of Emme Bow, one, on her Instagram on Monday explaining that the toddler was rushed to hospital by her mother Alana, Arlene’s eldest daughter, after “rapidly losing weight”.
She went on to the say that Alana has “no idea” why she was losing weight.

Arlene wrote: “My world was turned upside down this week when my beautiful granddaughter #emmebow was rushed into hospital and my daughter @alanastewartmama had no idea why she was rapidly loosing weight and like a little rag doll.”
But despite the initial mystery, doctors were able to diagnose the tot with a virus.
“Fortunately the hospital identified what was wrong which was the result of a virus and now she’s home and really on the mend which has lifted my spirits enormously and I’m totally ready to get into my rehearsals on @houseofflamenka full of smiles.”
Alana, who is also mum to Lila Primrose, three, is the oldest of Arlene’s two daughters and is from her marriage to Danny Noble.
Arlene married when she was 18, and he was 27. The pair separated shortly after Alana’s birth in 1979.
Arlene, 79, reminisced about her pregnancy with her eldest daughter in an Instagram post on Monday, sharing a childhood photo of Alana in a ballet tutu as she marked her 43rd birthday.
“In 1979 I discovered I was pregnant and set to choreograph a big Hollywood film but to my joy I had a two week hiatus on the film when my baby was due to be born and like the trooper I was flew from New York back to Los Angeles for the birth where after I was about to head into twelve weeks of filming,” Arlene wrote.
“Since then this baby has brought so much happiness to my life and today I wish her the most beautiful of birthdays and say thank you.”
Arlene met her current husband Angus Ion, a set builder at the time, on the set of Freddie Mercury’s music video I Was Born To Love You in 1985.
The TV star, who left Strictly in 2008 amid an ageism row, had returned to prime time TV earlier this year as a guest judge on Dancing on Ice.
