Strictly’s Dan Walker rushes to support Rose Ayling-Ellis as she hits career milestone

Dan Walker rushed to support his Strictly Come Dancing co-star Rose Ayling-Ellis as she hit a major career milestone.

The ex- EastEnders actress, 28, made her theatre debut in the West End on Thursday evening starring as Celia in Shakespeare’s As You Like It.

The former BBC Breakfast star took to his Instagram Stories to inform his followers he was heading to watch the Strictly champion take to the stage for the first time – and revealed he had a special date lined up.

He said: “Off to go and watch the amazing Rose Ayling-Ellis who is making her West End debut playing Celia in Shakespeare’s as you like it. Got a special date lined up as well.”

This was followed by a snap of the 45-year-old sat alongside Rose’s mum, Donna, in the Soho Place Theatre.

After watching Rose make her debut, the presenter headed to his Instagram once again to share how incredible the performance was.

“Rose Ayling Ellis is amazing in As You Like It,” he exclaimed, adding: “As you’d expect, she signs most of her lines.

“They are available on screens around the theatre but she is so creative and so clever, she just tells the story in a brilliantly engaging way.”

“The rest of the cast are wonderful as well,” he gushed before mentioning how proud Rose’s mum was.

The Channel 5 star continued: “I watched it tonight with her very proud mum Donna. At one point I nudged her and said, ‘Your daughter is a West End star’ and she had a lovely beaming smile on her face. So go and see it if you can!”

Rose, who became the first deaf contestant to appear on Strictly with partner Giovanni Pernice, was touched by her co-star’s sweet words as she reposted his Instagram Story along with the caption: “This man gives me endless support. He is the best.”

After her performance, she posed for a snap alongside her mother and the news anchor and once again, thanked him for the support.

Rose penned: “Supporter since day one! Please go buy his book, I’m glad it was him who wrote a chapter about the special relationship I have with my mother.”
