Alex Jones scolded her co-host Jermaine Jenas live on BBC’s The One Show for a cheeky comment he made about the Welsh football squad.
The Welsh BBC presenter erupted in protest and shouted: “Less of it, JJ!” for the brave football dig, which he made right at the start of the programme on Monday night (June 6).
Former England and Tottenham Hotspur footballer Jermaine kicked off the chat show with Alex before dishing out the sporty banter on camera.
Their star-studded show welcomed Strictly star AJ Odudu, comedian David Mitchell and Bake Off star Paul Hollywood onto the One Show set.
Alex had just told viewers all about her incredible Platinum Jubilee weekend, which saw her attend the same lunch as Prince Charles and Camilla.
Jermaine decided to tease her about her Welsh football squad, which qualified for the World Cup after beating Ukraine 1-0 in the qualifiers on Sunday night.
Spurs striker Gareth Bale managed to secure a goal with a free kick which ended in a Ukrainian own goal in the playoff final.
Jermaine said: “To top off a fantastic week for you, the Welsh are going to the World Cup, aren’t they!” before sarcastically adding: “You had it on… fully engrossed in the football as usual.”
Alex replied: “Hang on, now. But we’re against you lot now, aren’t we?”
Jermaine replied: “You are. Up against the English now. In our group at the World Cup.”
He then then teased Alex and the Welsh players when he quipped: “But, you know. You got there and that’s the main thing.”
He was, of course, suggesting the Welsh squad would soon get knocked out of their World Cup group and wouldn’t be able to beat their English rivals in the next stage of the competition.
Alex wasn’t having any of it and cried out: “Ay, we’re gonna stay there! Less of it, JJ.”
Jermaine promptly replied: “Football talk, off,” before Alex agreed: “Off.”
The pair burst out laughing before carrying on with the rest of the programme.
The last time Wales qualified for the World Cup was in the 1958 tournament, which saw them reach the quarter finals.
