“Matt thought he was falling in love with Alex all along. That’s brutal,” said one viewer.
“Oh poor Matt! Dude is heartbroken. I feel so bad for him,” added another, while a third penned: “This is more dramatic than a soap…I feel so bad for Matt he really liked Alex.”
Some however thought the reaction was unwarranted, given the nature of the show.
“#TheTraitors I’m finding the indignation people are feeling about being lied to a bit disingenuous considering they are on a show called the traitors,” said a fan.
Alex and Matt later went for a private chat to discuss the drama, as Matt accused her of “playing him like a pawn.”
“you played me quite well,” he said, as presenter and actress Alex pleaded: “I know you think I used you as a cover but I didn’t.
“I did not play you I really like you.”
She went on to say “I think you’re really cool and I would love to hand out with you outside of here as friends.”

Matt was seen speaking to the camera, saying he felt like he was about to be broken up with by a girl “and you know you are, but they were never yours.”
He also told Alex that his emotional reaction “wasn’t just because I found out you had a boyfriend,” but because she “broke that trust.”
