The Vamps star Brad Simpson left horrified as fan begs him for selfie in toilet

The Vamps have had their fair share of awkward encounters with fans over the years, but Brad Simpson was red-faced when one asked for a selfie in the toilets.

Since bursting onto the scene with their covers on YouTube before their debut single, Can We Dance, the four-piece have met thousands of fans across the globe.

Some, however, remain memorable for all the wrong reasons, including a group of girls sneaking into their Manchester hotel room.

One fan also dared to ask Brad if he could get a selfie while he was mid-flow leaving very little to the imagination – luckily for Brad, it wasn’t caught on camera.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Star, drummer Tristan Evans said: “It happened to him [Brad]!”

While Brad, who runs his own gin bar, Simpson’s Gin Bar said: “It was a kid, he asked if he could have a photo and I was like ‘You can if you let me finish doing my business!’

“Your guard is down, luckily the kid didn’t have his phone in his hand but all it takes is ‘oh the camera has flipped the wrong way’.”

The group are this year celebrating their tenth anniversary and are heading on tour to celebrate with their fans.

Reflecting on their past decade in music, James said: “We’re planning loads of things around the ten years, we’re coming up to ten years since quite a few things.

“Whether it’s the first album, the first song, first tour, all that stuff, over the coming few years there might be a few things happening to commemorate certain moments.

“We’re definitely strategising things at the moment.”

Brad added: “We’re so proud of all the things we’ve done, it’s not one of those where we’re trying to be dismissive of anything.

“We genuinely go back and breathe new life back into new songs.”

Before the pandemic hit, the group were known for touring the country, often going international on an annual basis but explained they had to put the breaks on.

Celebrating their achievements, Brad said selling out the O2 Arena for the first time and becoming the first group to headline the same arena for five years in a row was “mad” but getting a Number One album will always be their highlight.

He said: “I’m going into the generic accolades, there have been moments at the end of a tour when it’s been the same crew since the beginning and we’ve maintained those friendships and it’s very important and should be celebrated.”

James continued: “I went to Westfield over Christmas and the first sort of Vamps show was an acoustic pop-up at Westfield, White City, I was thinking that was kind of crazy.

“I think there were like 500 people that came and it was quite last minute.”
