This Morning's Alison Hammond issues 'worrying' health update to ITV viewers

This Morning star Alison Hammond issued a health update at the start of her ITV show – after co-star Dermot O’Leary revealed he was “worried” about her.

The beloved daytime presenter appeared alongside her co-host Dermot for a special Easter-themed show on Good Friday (April 15).

However, just minutes into the broadcast, Alison felt she needed to pause the show and explain to the viewers why she wasn’t feeling as fit and healthy as she normally does.

Starting off the show, Alison asked Dermot: “How are you doing?”

Dermot replied: “Listen, I’m fine. I’m worried about you. Someone woke up halfway through the night.”

Making a cheeky reference to their fellow ITV chat show Loose Women, he quipped: “Not with Loose Women knocking on the door, which normally happens.”

Alison said: “Yeah, it normally does.”

Dermot then: “You’re a little dicky, aren’t you? Got hay fever.”

Alison then explained to viewers that she’s battling through hay fever, but was worried it was Covid at first.

She said: “A little bit of hay fever but obviously you get worried, don’t you? You think ‘Oh, is it the big C’.”

Dermot quickly insisted she meant Covid and not cancer, which is also commonly referred to as ‘the big C’.

Hammond continued: “I came in, I did a test straight away. It is hay fever. I know the difference between hay fever and the big C. So it is definitely the big C.

She added: “No, I’m only joking. It’s definitely a little bit of hay fever. Yeah, really bad.”

It comes as regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield have taken a break from the show during the Easter holidays.

Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary have fronted the show Monday (April 4), and they are also set to cover the extra bank holiday shows on Good Friday (April 15) and Easter Monday (April 18).

Josie and Vernon will present the show from Monday, April 11 to Thursday, April 14, before Phillip and Holly will return to the helm on Tuesday, April 19.

Speaking about hosting the show, Josie said: “I still cannot believe I’ve even hosted This Morning!

“I feel very privileged, very honoured, and just can’t believe it’s happening to me. I’m very thankful to all the This Morning team for letting me come back and host.

“As for Vernon, when they said I’d be hosting with Vernon again I screamed with excitement! What a legend.”
