Tom Hanks has worried fans as they spotted his right hand ‘shaking’ while holding a microphone at an event to promote his new film Elvis.
Hanks, 65, stars in the new music biopic as Elvis’ manager Colonel Tom Parker, while Austin Butler takes up the eponymous role of the King himself.
However, one topic dominated the conversation at the Australian premiere of the new Baz Luhrmann flick – and it was concern for veteran actor Tom.
While speaking, Hanks tried to control the slight trembling of his right hand by holding the microphone at the bottom with his left hand, and briefly switching hands, according to MailOnline.
Speaking at the premiere, Hanks explained: “I’ve shot films in Morocco and Los Angeles and New York City and Seattle and in Berlin.
“None of them have what the Gold Coast have, and what is that? Two words. None of those other cities have Dan Murphy,” he quipped, referencing the chain of shops.
He later added: “There is something about the people and the place of the Gold Coast that makes everyone walk around with a confident look on their face. We were a part of that.
“our confidence, joy and zest for life comes through in our motion picture.”
The actor recently debuted his huge weight loss, cutting a slim figure indeed on the red carpet as he donned a black suit, silk shirt and tie.
He has previously changed his weight for various film roles, including losing 50lbs for 2000 flick Castaway, and gaining some for 1992 film A League of Their Own.
Hanks, however, said he would no longer change weights for film roles after being diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes.
Concerned fans took to social media at the time, with plenty wishing the actor well as they wrote: “Wow lovely Tom Hanks looks very very thin! Hope he’s okay.”
Another added: “I’m concerned about Tom Hanks. He looks […] thin. I hope he’s OK.”
Diabetes isn’t the only health battle Hanks has endured, as he was one of the first people to test positive for Covid-19 at the start of the pandemic.
Speaking to The Guardian about his experience with the virus, he said: “I just had crippling body aches, I was very fatigued all the time and I couldn’t concentrate on anything for more than about 12 minutes.”
