A heated video has emerged of Will Smith telling his wife Jada Pinkett Smith to ‘stop using me for social media’ – after she kept demanding him to respond to her.
The resurfaced clip, which has gone viral on the internet, came from an Instagram Live video recorded by Jada.
It comes as Will was slapped with a 10-year ban from the Oscars and any other Academy-related events following his decision to smack comedian Chris Rock on stage at the 94th Academy Awards last month.
In the clip, Jada was promoting an upcoming episode of her podcast Red Table Talk, and she kept trying to get Will to answer her.
However, the King Richard actor looked uncomfortable with the camera in his face, and he wasn’t happy that she had just started filming him without his permission.
Jada asked Will if a therapist had helped them “heal the hurts” in their relationship.
She said: “You know [therapist] Esther Perel is coming to the table — she’s gonna be at the Red Table.”
Panning the camera over to her husband, she asked him: “Would you say she has been instrumental in you and I redefining our relationship?”
Instead of answering the question, though, Will issued a stern warning to her when he said: “I would say don’t just start filming me without asking me.”
Pressing the Fresh Prince star, Jada told viewers she was “still dealing with foolishness,” after joking that the therapist needed to come and help their relationship again.
She asked him again: “Would you say that she [Perel] helped us heal the hurts that we caused between one another?”
Will fired back at his wife, telling her she couldn’t just use him for social media and that his social media following is his “bread and butter.”
He then said: “Don’t just start rolling; I’m standing in my house. Don’t start rolling.”
She then signed off by sarcastically quip: “She’s helped us a lot, can’t you tell?”
Fans on Reddit expressed their concern over the clip, with one calling Jada’s comment “such a knife twist”.
Another said they felt “uncomfortable” after seeing the clip of the couple arguing.
They said: “It’s like he’s responding to a weird fan harassing him,” they penned. “It’s so uncomfortable to watch.”
It comes after Will Smith was banned from the Oscars for 10 years – including all other Academy-related events – for slapping Chris Rock.
Smith smacked Rock at the ceremony for making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s shaved hair – a quip about the film G.I. Jane 2.
Furious Will had told Chris to “keep my wife’s name out of your fu**ing mouth” as he sat back down next to Jada, who suffers from a hair-loss condition called alopecia.
He later apologised to the comedian for his actions and resigned from the Academy – after insisting violence is “poisonous”.
Announcing the decision on Friday, the Board said: “The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8 2022, Mr Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.
It continued: “We want to express our deep gratitude to Mr. Rock for maintaining his composure under extraordinary circumstances. We also want to thank our hosts, nominees, presenters and winners for their poise and grace during our telecast.”
The letter also stated that the event was overshadowed by the “unacceptable” and “harmful” behaviour from Smith on stage.
