X Factor’s ‘Tesco Mary’ Byrne has taken to Instagram to show off her amazing transformation after shedding six stone.
The former Tesco worker, 62, who took part in the 2010 series, ballooned to 21 stone after appearing on the show.
Now she has taken to Instagram to share a snap of herself looking extremely glamourous and trim after adopting a healthier lifestyle.
The star looked stunning as she sported a new blonde short do, instead of her typical long brunette locks.
Discussing her makeover, she told the Irish Mirror: “I looked at the picture of me on the show and me now and I honestly was shocked.
“Because it has happened gradually over the decade I guess I haven’t noticed it as much but yes, it is a shocking amount of weight loss. I was just under 21 stone on the show and I am now just over 15 stone.”
Mary said her weight loss has had such a positive influence over her health, it has prompted her to come off her anti-depressants.
She also highlighted her daughter for inspiring her to make a change.
The singer said: “My daughter is the reason behind it and we fight like cats and dogs because she is so strict on me. But it has worked.
“She won’t let me do the shopping because she knows I buy rubbish, which I will, but she has made me realise that life is there for living.”
Mary has vowed to lose another two stone in weight – and puts her transformation down to eating smaller portions and exercising regularly.
Mary previously revealed she had chronic arthritis, which had improved since she had lost weight, and had stopped taking cholesterol tablets.
She said: “While I was on the X Factor they diagnosed me with an underactive thyroid.
“And it was after discovering that her health had been failing, she decided to do something about it.”
