Adele ‘in bust-up’ between Alan Carr and his ex after ‘messy’ divorce

Alan Carr shas been slammed by his ex-husband Paul Drayton over his friendship with singer Adele.

The comedian claimed on TV that he had won a “custody of Adele” following his divorce from Paul.

However, Paul, 51 has hit back, telling The Sun: “Adele is one of my best friends and the truth is she was closer to me than Alan.

“The comments he made were in bad taste. They really upset me, to be honest, as there was also the suggestion I was being greedy.

“I texted Alan afterwards and said, ‘This is out of order, it’s upset me and it’s upset my mum’. He didn’t respond.”

The former couple’s friendship with Adele has been very public, with the singer organising and paying for Alan and Paul’s wedding in 2018.

However, now the friendship has become part of the pair’s separation.

Paul also revealed that he had spoken to Adele about the comments Alan made regarding her loyalty.

He confirmed to The Sun: “I sent Adele the same clip and she replied, ‘Just take the high road, babe’, meaning just ignore it.

“She is amazing at giving advice, she really is. I know that whenever I need her, she will be there for me because she’s a loyal friend and an incredible person.

Alan, 47, made the comments regarding the divorce last August as part of a joke on Channel 4’s 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.

As part of the gag, Alan presented a celebrity panel with a number of dismembered props, saying that his ex’s lawyer had insisted on a 50% split in assets.

He said they had agreed who would spend their time with Adele and who would spend their time with TV star Gok Wan.

“Obviously, people want to know about… we’ve divvied up our celebrity friends. I get custody of Adele. Paul gets Gok at the weekends. We’re still friends. I know he’s taken half of everything. But the one thing he can’t take is my dignity. Am I right?”

However, although part of a sketch, the comments riled Paul who described what was said as “really nasty”.

Alan and Paul were together for 13 years before their split at the beginning of 2022.

Alan and Adele’s representatives have been contacted for comment.
