Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly shared the awkward moment they bumped into King Charles III in the middle of the night while sleeping next door to him for a “royal sleepover”.
On Saturday (May 6), the Geordie duo ditched their South African camp a highly sought-after seat in Westminster Abbey to watch him be crowned the new King of England.
Before they took their seats, the dynamic duo caught up with ITV broadcaster and former I’m A Celebrity star Charlene White.

As they shared their surprise at receiving the coveted royal invitation, the pair revealed the surprising moment they bumped into the former Prince of Wales while staying at Dumfries House.
The pair recalled a project they worked on with His Royal Highness back in 2016 where they followed the former Prince of Wales “around for a year”.
During filming, the pair revealed some of their cheeky antics including an overnight stay at the royal’s house in Scotland.
Dec explained: “We did a documentary with him, we followed him around for the best part of a year for 40 years of the Prince’s Trust to get a year in his life and it was fascinating.
“One of the parts of it was he invited us up to Dumfries House to see the work he’s done there and we were gonna stay over.
“And we thought we’d be in a wing somewhere down the end of the estate, but we got there and we got inside and our bedrooms were next door to his.
“So we were literally in the next door bedroom, which meant we had to keep the noise down a bit – not that we’re noisy – but you had an encounter with him on the stairs.”

Ant continued: “I walked out the door at one point and I thought, ‘Well, it’s not like we’re going to bump into him’ and I walked out of the door and he was there with a pair of secateurs.
“And I was like, ‘Hi’ and then he goes, ‘One finds it’s always best if one prunes the roses oneself, don’t you find?’ and I said, ‘Absolutely’.
“But, yeah, we had no idea we were going to be next door, so that was a delight,” he concluded.
