Barbara Windsor’s widower finds love again with another EastEnders actress

Dame Barbara Windsor’s widower Scott Mitchell has found love again three years after the EastEnders icon’s tragic death.

Scott, 60, has now been enjoying a new romance with another EastEnders actress – Tanya Franks, who played Tanya Branning’s sister Rainie Cross.

The new couple flew to Greece to spend some time together this month, according to reports, and friends and family are said to be thrilled for them.

Scott, who has been busy fund-raising for Alzheimer’s Research UK in honour of Barbara, said of his new romance: “Life feels really good right now and we are enjoying some special time together.”

A source told The Sun: “Scott has found love again with Tanya and is truly happy.

“His and Barbara’s friends are delighted he’s found someone to share his life with.

“It’s fairly early days but Scott is cautiously now looking forward to the future.”

According to the publication, Scott and Tanya told their loved ones about their blossoming relationship while on holiday in Greece – and they couldn’t have been happier for them.

The source added: “There is so much friendship and respect between them both and they’re taking things slowly.”

The duo bonded while training for the London Marathon for Scott’s Babs’ Army group, who have managed to raise thousands for charity.

Scott has run the course in 2019, 2021 and 2023 with a number of EastEnders stars.

It isn’t just running he’s been busy with though, as he is an ambassador for Alzheimer’s Research UK and is working on the Government-funded Dame Barbara Dementia Mission.

British icon Barbara died in a care home in December 2020 at the age of 83, six years after she was first diagnosed with Dementia.

She went public with her diagnosis in 2018.

And Scott has vowed to keep her memory alive – though it might not involve any more running.

He said after finishing this year’s London Marathon: “As far as Babs’ Army are concerned, we’re going to have a year off, then in 2025 we’re going to have a new challenge.

“Whatever we decide to do, it will be under the banner of Babs’ Army again.”
