BBC Breakfast turns awkward as Charlie Stayt shuts down Jack Whitehall live on air

BBC Breakfast took an awkward turn during the latest episode as Charlie Stayt shut down comedian Jack Whitehall after he claimed gardening is for “older people”.

The presenter was back on the famous red sofa alongside co-host Tina Daheley on Friday (May 26) morning.

After weather presenter Matt Taylor presented the latest forecast in Gloucestershire surrounded by gorgeous greenery, Charlie asked guest Jack about gardening.

“That’s the next stage isn’t it. Feeling like i’m getting a bit older and mature and gardening is boss level of that.

Charlie hit back “You don’t have to be old to be into gardening, you know that. It’s not age related.

“Really?,” the comic replied.

Charlie “No, I don’t think so” before continuing on with the interview.

Conversation later turned to Jack’s recent announcement that he’s expecting his first child with model girlfriend Roxy Horner.

The couple announced the news on social media on May 15 sharing black and white snaps posing with images from their ultra sound scan.

Roxy, wearing a white summer dress in the shots, can be seen cradling her stomach in one of the pictures.

Jack jokingly captioned his post: “And I thought I wasn’t getting enough attention when the dog arrived…”

His girlfriend Roxy who modelled for British Vogue aged just 17, wrote on her Instagram: “The best news to share…”

Commenting on her post, Jack’s mother, actress Hilary Whitehall wrote: “We love you all so much! You have made @fatherwhitehall and me so very, VERY happy”.

Jack’s younger sister Molly commented: “Love you,” and re-shared the announcement on her Instagram story with the caption “cousins incoming”.

Molly has a two-year-old daughter and is currently expecting her second child.
