BBC Breakfast turns tense as Naga Munchetty snaps ‘just leave it’ at Carol Kirkwood

BBC Breakfast turned tense on Thursday (July 6), as Naga Munchetty snapped: “Why didn’t you just leave it?” at her co-star Carol Kirkwood.

Carol was busy presenting the usual weather segment, which promises “unsettled” wind and rain throughout the weekend and beyond.

But Naga was left unhappy with the news, and took it out on her pal.

Carol vowed: “Charlie and Naga, it is going to turn unsettled not just through the weekend, but also into next week too.”

Naga responded by saying: “Right, you know me very well, Carol, yeah? Why didn’t you just leave it like that?

“Why didn’t you just leave it at Friday?”

Laughing – and clearly not taking Naga too seriously – Carol responded: “Because it’s nearly the weekend, and you might have plans outside! It’s good to know these things.”

Naga’s co-host Charlie Stayt then chimed in: “Carol’s doing her job! She’s informing us. She’s not editing out bits of information.”

Naga, however, wasn’t having it, as she said: “Well, I don’t mind if she does! I don’t mind if you do, Carol, just let that be known.”

She added “It’s a nice day to end on, there, Friday. Mind you, not everyone likes the sunshine! Carol, we’ll speak to you later.”

Carol Kirkwood was left taken aback by the comment

And thankfully the co-stars shared a giggle as Carol’s segment cut off – showing that it was all in jest.

Over on social media, fans were loving Carol’s sunny demeanour as usual, and took to Twitter to share their thoughts.

One penned: “Have a great day Carol! You never fail to make us smile!”

Someone else wrote: “Good morning Carol have a wonderful day.”

As a third echoed: “Morning Carol looking forward to a great day…”

It comes after Carol was dragged off-screen on Tuesday (July 4) by an enthusiastic search dog.

She was reporting live from Wimbledon with a dog called Ray, who sat beside her with a tennis ball in his mouth – and eventually dragged her along the floor by his lead.

“Oh no!” exclaimed Jon Kay from the studio as Sally cried: “Oh Carol!”

“It’s happened again. Is she ok? Are you ok? Are you alright?” Sally Nugent repeatedly asked.

Unable to speak as she was consumed by laughter, Carol finally squealed: “Yes!”
