BBC Casualty viewers ‘so happy’ as Sah Brockner makes life-changing announcement

Casualty fans were thrilled during the latest episode when Sah Brockner announced they finally had a date for their top surgery.

Sah, a paramedic who works for the Holby Ambulance Service, told colleague Teddy Gowan that they would need to take some leave soon for the procedure.

They said: “I’ve booked some time off because I; ve finally got the date for my top surgery.

“Before you say anything, I know a double mastectomy is not to be taken lightly but for now at least, I’m just happy that I’ll finally look like the person I feel like on the inside.”

They added: “It’s been a long time coming.”

Other staff were “pleased for them” and fans agreed.

One viewer said: “MASSIVE SLAY FROM SAH AHHHH THIS REPRESENTATION IS SO IMPORTANT THANK YOU.”

Another posted: “I love how happy Teddy is for Sah. Their friendship is fantastic.”

A third social media user chimed in with: “Oh, Sah’s having their top surgery! Yay for Sah!!”

And yet another fan said: “Watching Sah on #Casualty getting the date for their top surgery was an utterly joyful moment.”

Sah is played by Arin Smethurst, who has previously praised Casualty for how it has handled transgender issues.

They said: “I am glad because they came in as the first regularly occurring trans character, and the first non-binary character and I think it it would have been very easy to just be like ‘this is what the character is but that is a part of them and there are hundreds of other facets to them.

Arin added to Digital Spy: “It was great to have a proper, really chunky story to hold on to and work on in terms of the character, and not just their queer identity which would have been boring and easy. It’s been really nice to have a meaty backstory to dig into.”
