BBC EastEnders double return ‘sealed’ after Keanu Taylor’s brutal Christmas death

EastEnders are convinced two iconic characters are on the brink of rejoining the BBC soap, right on the heels of Keanu Taylor’s heart-stopping murder.

As Christmas Day unfolded in a whirlwind of chaos, Keanu met his gruesome end at the Queen Vic after he began strangling his bride, Sharon. Linda Carter was seen dealing the fatal blow, stabbing him in the back in a bid to stop him.

After the shocking departure of Keanu actor Danny Walters, fans are speculating that this might pave the way for the sensational return of Karen Taylor (Lorraine Stanley) and Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths). The two Walford legends left the Square in a whirlwind of drama, jetting off to sunny Spain after Keanu accused Karen of orchestrating a bogus kidnapping scheme.

Fans lit up social media, with one fan posting on X: “Now that Phil and Sharon know it was Keanu that kidnapped Albie and got his mum to play along with it, surely that means Karen and her family could come home now? There is still the issue of her stealing the money, but I feel like Sharon would be able to persuade Phil to drop it now that they know it was Keanu.”

Another fan added: “Bernie is currently living alone in the flat, and Keanu is dead, so I only really see 2 options now. Either they get some/all of the Taylors to return (which wouldn’t be that shocking because Karen and Mitch made a videocall cameo on Christmas) or Bernie leaves (as there is literally nothing left for Bernie on the square).” Some viewers are convinced the shock exit of Lorraine Stanley could have all been a ploy by soap bosses to throw fans off.

Another viewer wrote: “Yeah, imagine if Clenshaw and Lorraine Stanley were just completely playing all of us lol. I do hope that’s true, but I doubt it,” but sharing their own verdict on what might happen: “I assume what will probably happen is they’ll just make an excuse as to why Karen/Mitch can’t go to the funeral and then Bernie will leave a few weeks later. That would be a real shame though.”

Speaking about his exit for the first time as he bowed out of the soap, he said: “It’s been a blast. From the things my character has done, to the drama that he’s got himself involved in, to the danger he’s got himself involved in, and to the women that he’s got himself involved in over the years. It’s been a rollercoaster of a ride, but what a journey it’s been.”

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday on BBC One at 7.30pm
