BBC presenter undergoes surgery after nearly losing sight as fans rush to support her

BBC presenter Lucy Owen has told how she was rushed to hospital for surgery that stopped her losing her sight.

The TV star, 52, said she had treatment after her optician saw that she had a detached retina.

Posting a snap on Twitter showing her with an eye patch, Lucy shared that it would be a while until she got her vision back.

“Again I need to say a huge thank you to the #NHS,” she tweeted.

“Going home after Mr Williams and the amazing team @CV_UHB stopped me losing sight in my eye with surgery for a detached retina.

“Very grateful to my optician who spotted it and rushed my (sic) in.

“Diolch all.

“Keep an eye on yours too.”

The presenter shared another post that showed her on the sofa next to a table holding a stunning bouquet of flowers.

“Thanks so much for your lovely messages, so kind of you,” she told her followers.

“Having to lie on my side for a week and won’t get my vision back for a few months – tricky for autocue! But look what I had from my wonderful Wales Today colleagues.

“So lucky work with such gorgeous people.”

Lucy’s followers responded with messages saying they hoped she felt better soon.

“So sorry to hear this, but hope you’re on the mend,” said one.

“I also hope you’ve got everyone running around for you!”

One fan sent “healing prayers for a speedy recovery”.
