Britney Spears claims that estranged father saw her as the family ‘cash flow’

Pop icon Britney Spears has opened up on her relationship with her father in her explosive memoir that is set to be released next week.

The Toxic songstress’s father Jamie was given conservatorship of her finances and personal life in 2008 and it lasted for 13 years. Britney has now spoken out about the ways that he had control over her life stating that she was “treated like [she] was a bank robber.”

In a part of the book obtained by The New York Times, Britney said: “Too sick to choose my own boyfriend and yet somehow healthy enough to appear on sitcoms and morning shows and to perform for thousands of people in a different part of the world every week.

“From that point on, I began to think that he saw me as put on the earth for no other reason than to help their cash flow.” Britney was placed in a conservative after she suffered from mental health issues and at one point completely shaved her head.

Talking about her mental health issues star said: ‘I know I had been acting wild, but there was nothing I’d done that justified their treating me like I was a bank robber… Nothing that justified upending my entire life.” She explained that she was given medication and treated as though she was a child.

She wrote: “I went from partying a lot to being a total monk. Security guards handed me prepackaged envelopes of meds and watched me take them. They put parental controls on my iPhone. Everything was scrutinized and controlled. Everything.”

Britney also explained that her dad told her that he would make her look like an “idiot” if she didn’t check herself into rehab. She claimed: “My father said that if I didn’t go, then I’d have to go to court, and I’d be embarrassed.”

After the conservatorship ended Britney’s father Jamie spoke out about it telling the Mail on Sunday: “It’s been one hell of a time. But I love my daughter with all my heart and soul.

“Where would Britney be right now without that conservatorship? And I don’t know if she’d be alive. I don’t. For protecting her, and also protecting the kids, conservatorship was a great tool. Without it, I don’t think she would have got the kids back.”
