Caitlyn Jenner 'turned down' I'm A Celebrity all-star series as line-up announced

Caitlyn Jenner reportedly turned down the opportunity to join I’m a Celebrity South Africa as her “schedule didn’t allow for it”, a source has revealed.

The Olympic decathlon legend, 73, delighted fans in the jungle alongside stars including Nadine Coyle, Roman Kemp and Kate Garraway in 2019, and was placed sixth in the programme overall.

However, after the line-up was announced for I’m a Celeb South Africa, which sees contestants from past series competing one more time, a source claimed that ITV bosses had approached Caitlyn to appear in the programme.

They revealed that Caitlyn was unable to commit to the programme, which was filmed last year, with the source telling The Mirror: “They reached out and her schedule didn’t allow for it.”

Caitlyn was a hit both with viewers and her jungle campmates following her appearance in 2019, and previously opened up to Daily Star about the bonds she made with her fellow celebs on the programme.

“It’s a tremendous bond, what we went through, you never forget that,” said Caitlyn.

“I’m A Celebrity is about the people, it’s not about where they’re at. You’re in the jungle, it’s not easy but the show is about the people.

“Isolated from the world, forced to deal with themselves.”

Caitlyn is just one of the huge names to have appeared on I’m A Celeb throughout the years, with hosts Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly announcing on ITV’s Saturday Night Takeaway the first group of icons who would be returning for the all-stars version.

They include boxing champion Amir Khan, Diversity dancer & DJ Jordan Banjo, former Coronation Street star Helen Flanagan, TV presenter Carol Vorderman and Olympic athlete Fatima Whitbread.

The celebs will also be joined by former Royal butler Paul Burrell, ex-England Cricketer Phil Tufnell, supermodel Janice Dickinson and music legend Shaun Ryder.

However, ITV bosses have promised that more celebs will be joining the series – and that viewers will have to watch to find out who they are and when they will enter the camp.

The new series will see the celebrities head to South Africa, where they will push themselves to the limits – with the challenges teased as a “bigger and tougher” than ever before.

There is also no public vote, as the celebrities compete against each other to become the first ever I’m a Celebrity legend.

I’m A Celebrity… South Africa will air next month on ITV1 & ITVX.
