CITV will no longer air as its own channel, ITV bosses confirmed, after assessing the drop in ratings.
Instead, shows will move over to ITV’s streaming services on ITVX, with brand new children’s programmes dropping on the service, a spokesperson for the channel said.

But ex CITV host, Danielle Nicholls, thinks the culling of the kids TV channel could have a long-term effect on daytime TV, after multiple famous faces got their big break on kids shows.
Speaking to Daily Star, Danielle said: “It’s really sad they’re taking children’s television away. There are all these really famous presenters that came from it, Ant and Dec, Cat Deeley, Andi Peters.”
Danielle worked alongside Stephen Mulhern during her time on the show, who is also a popular face across many ITV shows.
She added: “I think it’ll have a knock on effect in television in general. Kids TV is where you learn your trade, it’s where you learn the business and you have natural progression.
“If you look at the amount of children’s presenters who are now famous presenters, you’d be massively surprised.”
The now Talk TV star questioned if people will get the same opportunities to make it into daytime TV now.
She added: “I think there’s an assumption that everybody has an iPad and can download stuff, but some people might just have a TV, so I think it’s a massive shame.”
Danielle believes there will be a lot of potential staff “lost” as people will struggle to break into the TV industry without the kids channels.
ITV shared a statement last week to confirm the end of the beloved kids TV channel.
They wrote: “As a consequence of this new streaming approach and responding to the changing ways children and their parents are increasingly accessing content.
“The CITV broadcast channel will close after the summer holidays on 1st September.”
The channel was home to Horrid Henry, My Parents Are Aliens and Art Attack.
