Coronation Street fans 'work out' dark Aaron murder twist after Amy rape horror

This article includes discussion around rape and sexual consent that some readers may find upsetting.

Coronation Street fans have predicted that Tracy Barlow will murder Aaron Sandford, after discovering that he raped her daughter Amy Barlow.

Viewers of the ITV soap were left horrified on Monday (March 6, 2023) after Amy lay down on her bed after saying she felt unwell, before Aaron climbed into bed and continued to kiss her and take off her clothes.

Aaron told her the next morning that they had sex, but Amy confronted him after realising that he had raped her, saying that she was too drunk to consent to having sex with him.

However, Aaron insisted what happened was consensual, and denied his appalling actions.

Following her harrowing ordeal, Amy moved back in with mum Tracy – who could tell that something was wrong with her daughter as Amy began to get emotional.

Tracey asked Amy: “Has something happened? You can tell me, you know,” but Amy said “no” and said she was still upset about her break-up with Jacob.

However following the emotional scenes, viewers took to social media to beg Amy to tell Tracy about what happened – and predicted that Tracy might take revenge on Aaron when she finds out the truth.

“Go and tell Tracy what Aaron did to you Amy!” said one viewer, while a second agreed, saying: “Please tell Tracy Amy. For all her faults she loves you to bits and will go straight into fierce protective lioness mode #Corrie.”

“A better cliffhanger to tonight’s episode would have been Tracy leaving the house and saying she heard everything Amy and Aaron said.”

A fourth penned: “Oh, if she tells Tracy what Aaron did, he better run. He better run fast and far.”

“Here’s hoping Amy tells Tracy, then we can get rid of Aaron once and for all,” said a fifth.

A sixth commented: “Tell Tracy, Amy, she’ll go murder Aaron #Corrie #CoronationStreet,” while a seventh said: “Tracy is going to murder Aaron! #Corrie #coronationstreet.”

“I wish Amy would tell her mum Tracy about Aaron. So she can go round and sort him out! #Corrie,” commented an eighth.

Speaking about the consent storyline to Digital Spy, Amy actress Elle Mulvaney explained that Amy “wants justice” following the harrowing events and “Aaron to know what he’s done wrong,” by receiving a criminal charge.

“I think Amy wants a sense of justice. Aaron admitting it is the main thing that she wants, but then if he gets a criminal charge as well, then that would mean that it’s been proven and he’s guilty,” said Elle.

She continued: “Most importantly, Amy wants Aaron to know what he’s done is wrong, because in her head, the worries are: ‘Is he going to do this to somebody else? Has he already done this to Summer?’ There’s lots of things going through her head.”

Coronation Street has been working with the Schools Consent Project on Amy’s storyline.
