Corrie’s Colson Smith devastated as skin condition could be reaction to ‘favourite’ sweet

Corrie actor Colson Smith has been diagnosed with a “disheartening’’ skin condition forcing him to wear long sleeves.

The soap star is desperately hoping it isn’t caused by an allergy to his favourite foods, Nando’s or Haribo Tangfastics.

The 24-year-old – who portrays Craig Tinker on the ITV1 show – spoke about how he has been suffering from Chronic idiopathic urticaria – chronic hives that appear on the body – since the beginning of the year.

He explained that essentially it is allergic reactions to a lot of things and that he gets rashes all over his body in different places, without knowing what caused them or why.

He told Sofa Cinema Club podcast: “It only annoys me when it’s on my face. It’s a bit disheartening when it’s on your face.’’

He also said he had an outbreak on Tuesday, just hours before appearing on the This Morning sofa alongside his Corrie co-star Jack P Shepherd, 35.

Jack, who plays David Platt, said he believes Nando’s or the Haribo sweets could be contributing to his pal’s discomfort.

Colson said: “At the moment, I’ve got this Chronic idiotic urticaria [Chronic idiopathic urticaria]. I went, ‘Why has it got the middle word?’ She [the GP] said it’s become it has no pattern, it happens for no reason. It’s not one thing.

‘’Jack thinks it is Tangfastics, or Nando’s, and I did have Nando’s that day.’’

The actor confessed he has been wearing long sleeves since January to cover up his rashes.

He said he’s on drugs to keep his condition under control but he feared this week’s outbreak would leave him looking like he had undergone lip filler injections during his live TV appearance.

He added that doctors told him it would stop after six months.

“It is bizarre. It just about went down [before This Morning]. I could feel it when I was there, but you couldn’t fully notice it. I was worried I was going to go on TV looking like I had lip filler,” he said.
