EastEnders fans are pleading with show bosses to make Reverend Irene Mills a permanent fixture on the show following her touching encounter with Lola Pearce.
Fans welcomed Rev Irene on last night’s episode (May 22) after Jay Brown found himself in distress as his terminally ill wife struggled to communicate and refused to see members of the Mitchell family.
Seeking solace and guidance in Lola’s final days, Jay reached out to Reverend Irene Mills at the suggestion of Sonia Fowler, hoping to find spiritual support in the face of death.

As she continued to lead some emotional scenes on tonight’s episode as she baptized Lola, fans were pleading for her to made a regular staple on the show.
“They should definitely build a church in Walford so Reverend Mills can permanently stay on the Square. # EastEnders,” said one viewer.
Another echoed: “I need Reverend Mills on every day. She’s wonderful”, while a third penned: “I need #EastEnders to make Rev. Irene a permanent character please.”
Ben Mitchell was seen lashing out at Honey and Billy on tonight’s ep, accusing the family of accepting Lola’s prognosis too easily.
At the Arches, Jay confronted Ben, who revealed that he and Billy had been contemplating helping Lola end her life, leaving Ben furious.
Later, Phil spoke to Ben about his mother and expressed his regret for not supporting Peggy’s wishes to die, urging his son to stop being selfish.
The family gathered in Lola’s bedroom, without Ben, for the emotional baptism, finding solace in Reverend Mills’ touching blessing.
Feeling guilty, Ben headed over to No.18 to apologize for his actions, but later left a voicemail for Dr. Washington, seeking help to ensure Lola would still be alive in September after he promised her she would be there for a special school event.
Elsewhere, the tension within the Slater household escalated as Jean grappled with accepting Stacey’s involvement in OnlyFans.
Noticing Jean’s distress, Freddie offered comforting words and helped Jean persuade Lily to return home.
In a candid discussion, Lily, Jean, and Stacey delved into the motivations behind Stacey’s choices.
Ultimately, Lily forgave her mother, and Jean requested that Stacey delete the account.
EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC1.
