EastEnders legend ditches fame to become artist as he flogs prints for £225

Nitin Ganatra is working as an artist years on from leaving EastEnders in 2019.

The actor previously played Masood Ahmed and was at the centre of some tough storylines. He also had his fair share of relationships on Albert Square – including with Ian Beale’s ex wife Jane and his mum Kathy too.

While the family made their mark on Albert Square – with his on-screen son Syed dating Christian being one of the most famous LGBTQ relationships on the soap. But now, Nitin lives a very different life to his character.

Nitin still works within the industry, but art is his main focus point. In one recent video Nitin filmed himself showing his artwork to his followers.

He said: “I got quite emotional seeing how this boys journey has taken a new life in the prints. My artwork is an expression of something that sits deep inside wanting and waiting to be heard. to find a voice. To live in the world. Safely.”

Nitin explained that the response he’s had from his followers has been “incredible and moving”. He added: “I can only paint from the heart, and hope that you look at them also, from the heat. I am deeply grateful for your response.”

The prints can be bought signed for £225 each, and his followers immediately shared their support for the venture. One user wrote: “Well done Nitin, they look amazing.” Another said it was a “beautiful work of art”.

Aside from his artwork, Nitin is also an ambassador for Noah’s Ark Hospice and continues working in TV and films across the board. But when Nitin isn’t on the camera, he lives a very low-key life.

From sharing his artwork to posting videos of himself on his profile, Nitin keeps his followers updated with everything going on his life. But one thing people might not expect is that he also works in a shop.

He recently told The Sun that people do a double-take when they see him in his family’s shop helping stack shelves. He said to the publication that it is “normal” to him, adding: “If you’re visiting your family, you can’t just expect to be served, you have to join in.”
