The granddaughter of Elvis Presley has opened up about the “chaos” and “drama” within the family following the death of her mother, Lisa Marie Presley, in January.
Lisa Marie passed away suddenly aged 54 after suffering a cardiac arrest at her home in California.
Seven months on, Riley Keough, 34, has discussed the problems that ensued surrounding the inheritance of the Elvis estate.

At the time, Riley, who stars in Amazon Prime Video’s Daisy Jones & the Six, found herself involved in a dispute with her grandmother and Elvis’ ex-wife, Priscilla Presley, 78.
Lisa Marie initially inherited “The King’s” estate on her 25th birthday in 1993, which had previously been held in The Elvis Presley Trust and managed by Priscilla.
She then formed a new trust, appointing her mother as co-trustee.
But things began to get messy following her death when Priscilla legally disputed the validity of her will, which had reportedly been altered in 2016 to remove her from it, making Riley and her brother Benjamin, who has also since died, the “successor co-trustees of the trust”.
By May, however, the situation appeared to have been resolved as both Riley and Priscilla said they had reached an understanding regarding the matter.
Riley explained to Vanity Fair: “When my mom passed, there was a lot of chaos in every aspect of our lives. Everything felt like the carpet had been ripped out, and the floor had melted from under us.
“Everyone was in a bit of a panic to understand how we move forward, and it just took a minute to understand the details of the situation, because it’s complicated. We are a family, but there’s also a huge business side of our family. So I think that there was clarity that needed to be had.”

Adding that her “grandma will be happy” with the arrangement going forward, she also explained that there was further drama concerning Priscilla’s desire to protect and be buried at Graceland.
Riley explained: “It’s very important to her… He [Elvis] was the love of her life. Anything that would suggest otherwise in the press makes me sad because, at the end of the day, all she wants is to love and protect Graceland and the Presley family and the legacy. That’s her whole life.”
