Emmerdale’s Dan Spencer was devastated when he discovered he would be spending eight years behind bars for manslaughter – but this might not be the case.
Last week, Dan’s court case arrived following his fatal interaction with stalker Lloyd which resulted in his death.
Fans were left emotional during the episode as Dan said his final goodbyes to his friends and family in the village ahead of his sentencing.

As the judge claimed the punch was a severe act of violence, Dan was sentenced to nearly a decade in prison.
However, Daily Star has artificially intelligent “creative” tool Bard AI through its paces to find out more about Dan’s future.
When asked what could happen to Dan, the AI system predicted the fan-favourite character could escape from prison with help from his loved ones back in the Dales.
AI suggested Dan could break out with the help of Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley), “a known criminal with a lot of experience in escaping from prison”.
It teased Cain could help Dan escape or to get away from the police once he is out.
Another village resident in line to help Dan escape is ex-girlfriend Kerry Wyatt (Laura Norton), who briefly returned to the soap over Facetime to speak with Dan ahead of his sentencing.
AI teased: “Dan’s ex-girlfriend Kerry is a wealthy businesswoman with connections. She may be able to help Dan escape by providing him with money, a place to stay, or a fake passport.”
While fans have also had their say on how long they think Dan will spend in prison, and it certainly isn’t eight years.
One fan declared: “He’ll only do half the sentence to be eligible for parole, unless the judge sets a minimum tariff.”
“Eight years! See you in 2027 Dan,” agreed another viewer.
A third echoed: “Eight years. That’s four years for good behaviour. The panto folk will be rubbing their hands with glee, sorted until 2027.”
