EastEnders has snapped up a former Emmerdale writer who quit the ITV soap only a few weeks ago.
Sharon Marshall has channel-hopped to the BBC because she’s very excited about what she’s heard is in the EastEnders pipeline.
The news is likely to be a disappointment for Emmerdale bosses, but the EastEnders team will be thrilled to have snapped up the This Morning soap expert.

Sharon, 51, gave Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield her usual weekly round-up today (Wednesday, April 26) – and it was during that slot that she revealed her news.
She told the This Morning pair that she was “lucky” to have got the role on the Beeb show.
And she added that she’d already started work on the Albert Square storylines, with her first episode set to be broadcast next week.
A picture of Sharon appeared on the screen alongside the famous Albert Square sign.
“I’ve been over at EastEnders for a little while now. My first episode is coming up next Wednesday,” she said.
As a snap of her alongside the Albert Square sign was shown on screen, she added: “It’s obligatory that you’ve got to take a photo like that. I’m part of the writing team now, I’m thrilled to say.
“I’ve got an episode next week, all about Keanu and Ravi and Sharon. Oh my gosh – writing Sharon is just amazing.”
The EastEnders team is keeping mum about the stories that are coming up, but speculation has been swirling about what happens in this year’s Christmas episode.
The show aired a flash-forward scene earlier this year involving a death and the involvement of one or more of six of the show’s female stars.
Last week some fans thought they had picked up a clue about what will happen at Christmas.
In the teaser, there’s an unknown man lying on the floor and Sharon Watts (played by Letitia Dean) confirms that the mystery character is dead.
Five other women are at the scene alongside Sharon – Denise (Diane Parish), Kathy (Gillian Taylforth), Linda (Kellie Bright), Stacey (Lacey Turner) and Suki (Balvinder Sopal).
In last week’s episode, Suki whispered to Eve (Heather Peace):“Believe that I love you. We are going to get rid of Nish, for good, I promise.”
And that comment convinced some fans that they’d solved the Christmas mystery, even though there’s another eight months to go.
