Emmerdale star Alexander Lincoln has candidly opened up about his sexuality as fans rushed to send support and praise for the actor.
The 28-year-old played Jamie Tate on the ITV soap for nearly three years, before leaving in September 2021.
Since his explosive exit, which saw Jamie attempt to poison his mother Kim Tate, Alexander has kept himself busy with numerous TV and film projects.

And despite usually being tight-lipped about his personal life, Alexander has recently opened up about his sexual orientation.
Last year, the London native bagged himself a role in the LGBTQI+ film In From The Side.
Alexander portrays a rugby player called Mark in the drama, who risks the future of his rugby club when he has a secret affair with a fellow male player.

In From The Side was released in the UK on September 16 2022 and was longlisted for the British Independent Film Awards.
Taking to his Instagram, Alexander opened up about his appearance in the film calling it a ‘huge moment’ in his life – while breaking his silence on his sexuality.
“Completely neglected to post this at the time but it was a HUGE moment for me and I was truly honoured to have been included for the longlist for the 2022 BIFA Breakthrough Performance,” he penned.

“There were some astoundingly beautiful performances this year so I don’t feel at all bad about not getting shortlisted. Though I will of course be watching the ceremony intently from the comfort of my sofa.
“Infinitely proud of this film and what it continues to do and how it continues to resonate with audiences.”
He then went on to send his thanks to the director and crew.
Plenty of the former soap star’s fans flooded the comments section with praise for his performance.
One followed penned: “I loved the movie and its actors are still very handsome but I still think that the actors are posing as gay but they are not. Is it my doubt?”
Alexander saw the comment and responded to the user, seemingly confirming that he is gay.
“Thanks so much”, he replied, “really appreciate it!!!! And no, I’m not straight.”
Even more of Alexander’s smitten fans were over the moon to see him open up about his usually-private personal life.
“I know this may sound dumb, but thank you for saying this. I’d already read elsewhere that you’d already said it and it wasn’t exactly a secret or anything, but seeing you say it here on Instagram means a lot more than you know”, they commented.
Last month, Alexander hit out at people who called out Kit Connor, forcing him to come out as bisexual – after which, he also responded to criticism after some claimed he “took roles from the LGBTQ community.”
He quipped: “Who says I’m straight,” before commenting: “Sexuality is not a preference.”
Alexander, who usually stays quiet when it comes to his personal life, sent fans wild back in October 2021 when he posted a sweet snap of him and a mystery brunette woman called Shar Holliday.
The pair headed off on holiday to Croatia, hinting they were a couple. However, Alexander didn’t respond to the rumours.
