Former Emmerdale actress Louise Marwood has revealed she battled a cocaine addiction that sent her to rehab four times and almost killed her.
The soap star, who played Chrissie White in the ITV series until she was killed off, is now hoping to take her story to the stage.
Louise, 43, has revealed her own struggles, explaining she fell under the grasp of addiction after leaving Emmerdale.

She was in treatment between 2018 and 2021 and went to rehab four times to try and get the help she needed.
While she’s doing better now, Louise confessed that her addiction “nearly killed” her.
Louise has now launched a GoFundMe page to raise money to take her tragic story to the stage as a one-woman show, Rita Lynn: The Life Coach Who Wanted To Die.
She told Mail Online: “I want to carry a story of strength and hope to the addict that still suffers while busting wide open the chaos that addiction causes to your life and everybody that you drag down with it.”
The actress explained: “I was very unwell for a very long time and because of that I want to use my platform to help other people and that’s what I’m asking for the opportunity to do really.”
She said she is “recovered” now, and hopes to help others by sharing her story.
“I think I’m realising what creativity and art is there for in the first place – shining a light on, for me, the affliction of addiction and how that if I can recover anyone can. I really believe that,” she said.
Louise played Home Farm resident Chrissie White in Emmerdale between 2014 and 2018.
The White family was made up of her dad Lawrence (John Bowe), who wasn’t actually her biological father, sister Rebecca (Emily Head), and twisted son Lachlan (Tom Atkinson).
Their story came to a deadly end after Lawrence announced plans to move to Australia – plans an unstable Lachlan wasn’t happy about.
During a car chase, Lachlan grabbed the steering wheel and veered them into the path of an oncoming lorry, which killed Chrissie and Lawrence.
Louise more recently appeared on Coronation Street as Phill Whittaker’s ex-wife Camilla.
