Florence And The Machine star forced to cancel gig as she has ‘life-changing’ surgery

Florence And The Machine lead singer Florence Welch has been forced to pull out of a string of performances after having “life-changing” surgery.

The music star, 36, apologised as she broke the news to fans, but explained that she didn’t “feel strong enough” to divulge the details at the moment.

The You’ve Got The Love singer said on Instagram: “I’m so sorry that I had to cancel the last couple of shows. My feet are fine, I had to have emergency surgery for reasons I don’t really feel strong enough to go into yet, but it saved my life.”

Florence broke her foot on stage, but didn’t fill her 2.2million followers in on what had caused the surgery.

However it wasn’t all bad news, as she revealed she would be back on stage as soon as she could.

She said: “I will be back to close out the Dance Fever tour in Lisbon and Malaga (Maybe not jumping so much but you can do that for me).

“Suffice to say I wish the songs were less accurate in their predictions. But creativity is a way of coping, mythology is a way of making sense.

“And the dark fairytale of Dance Fever, with all its strange prophecies, will provide me with much needed strength and catharsis right now.”

Fans were quick to send their well wishes to Florence.

One commented: “You don’t have to share with us what happened. Like, ever. It’s your life and your pain and you don’t owe us an explanation or sharing of something that is only yours to feel.

Another said: “OMG Flo. I’m gathering all the good and beautiful energy inside me to wish you the most speedy recovery. I love you to death and I’m so, so, so grateful that you are okay! Take care my love. Get well soon.”

A third wrote: “Please don’t be sorry, especially if your life was on the line. Health before absolutely anything else. Just glad you’re ok, we are here for you.”
