Former Love Island winner confirmed for Dancing On Ice as 2024 line-up fills up

Amber Davies has officially joined the lineup of Dancing On Ice.

The former Love Island star has been confirmed as the fourth contestant to join the ITV Sunday night primetime ice-dancing competition. The news was revealed during Friday’s edition of Lorraine after the presenter teased the news throughout the programme.

So far, the lineup includes noughties pop icon Hannah Spearritt, Brookside legend and Coronation Street star Claire Sweeney and former World Champion boxer Ricky Hatton MBE. However Amber made a grand entrance through the studio sliding doors as she was revealed as the latest star to sign up to the series.

Amber, 26, is also meant to be starring in a production of Pretty Woman at the same time of competing in the skating show. But commenting on the announcement she said she is excited about the challenge and even wants to get the hard moves out of the way early on.

“Do you know what I’ve been in this Dancing On Ice bubble, and today It feels real,” said the former ITV2 reality star. “Now I can’t go back, it’s happening … I can count on one hand how many times I have actually ice skated.”

She revealed that due to her aspirations of being on the stage, she was always prohibited to skate by her parents when she was younger due to the risk of injury. And she revealed that when she first got the call, she even asked them for permission to compete in the show.

“I’m 27 next week and I was still asking them for permission. I said, ‘Mum and dad, do you mind?’, They were like ‘you’ll be in safe hands’. You know, I’m gonna have an amazing pro who I don’t know yet. However it’s clear that despite her simultaneous jobs, Amber wants to tackle the difficult and dangerous moves.

She explained: “Someone said, ‘Do you want to do the headbanger?’ and I said I’d like to get that out in week one if I can. Later, she described the feeling of surprise when bosses confirmed they had picked her as she said: “I was elated and over the moon I even got the call for Dancing On Ice because I hadn’t been on telly in so long and I thought that kind of ship had potentially sailed.”

Amber added: “I’d been working hard and when I spoke to the producers, and I said, ‘You know, why me?’, they said because you’re doing so well in in your industry and in that moment, I really did feel like my hard work is paying off.”

But Fans flocked to social media to heap praise on the show for the new signing as they left gushing well wishes for the star.

One fan wrote: “@Amber_Davies7 is booked and blessed with @prettywomanuk tour which I cannot wait to see @thealexbham and now @dancingonice. You are going to be sensational on there.” A second exclaimed: “This is brilliant signing. #DancingOnIce #LoveIsland.”

“OMG MOTHER,” put an excited third fan alongside a GIF of Oprah Winfrey looking absolutely ecstatic, as a fourth noted: “DOI celeb number 4 is West End star & Love Island winner Amber Davies.”

Whilst a fifth user commented: “Amber Davies has just been confirmed to be on Dancing On Ice on #Lorraine and I could not be more excited!”
